The “Octo-Tree” Glulam

This steel base connection stands out in the orchard at the Music Center at Indian Hill because of the eight individual connection plates welded at different angles. These are the roots of what the design team has been affectionately calling the ‘octo-tree.’

Eight individual glulam columns ‘grow’ in different directions and there is no symmetry to how they are located. At the bottom of the columns they appear chaotic and random, but at the top they come into an orderly alignment.
