Revisiting the Downsville Covered Bridge
We drove through Downsville, NY on the way to the AIA product fair, and since our new Sales Associate had never been on the bridge I took a detour over it. We ended up stopping in a nearby park to take photos, and the water was so low we were even able to walk directly underneath the bridge. From there, we got a good look at the 173’+ beams we supplied for the bridge in 1998. As far as we know, these are still the longest glulam beams ever manufactured.
After the impromptu photo shoot we continued over the bridge and on to Long Island. It’s not very often that you get to drive over a covered bridge, so I highly recommend taking the ‘long way’ around Downsville the next time you are in the area.
