Unalam

Curved wood laminate construction beams in a workshop setting at Unalam.

Preserving the Preserve

Who says a bridge has to be straight? This pedestrian bridge for Settlement Quarry Preserve in Stonington, ME sure isn’t. The bridge deck panels below aren’t curved just for fun. (Even though it looks very fun.

These panels are curved to go around the trees. It was important to the client and design team to avoid removing as many trees as possible, so you go around them! Blog star Keith is leading the way on the fabrication

You can see the templates on top of the panel that we use to set our forms and cross check our fabrication. Measure twice, cut once or not at all in the case of this bridge.
