Unalam

Partially Assembled and Partially Glulam

One of the benefits of using glulam for your projects is it can come fully fabricated and even partially assembled. Right now, we are working on a unique pedestrian bridge that needs to be assembled in the plant in 5 sections.

These sections will be set and connected on site to create 123′ pedestrian bridge. While it is not unusual for us to do this kind of work, the materials are slightly unusual.

The main stringers and blocking members are made of glulam, but the hand rails, posts, and gates that will go at either end, are made of solid sawn lumber. Since we are a glulam manufacturer we don’t often procure and fabricate other types of lumber, but on occasion it becomes part of our scope.

Another unique feature about this bridge is the rail system. It is made of 3/4″ steel pipe in lieu of vertical pickets or horizontal glulam rails. While these features are not a part of a standard glulam pedestrian bridge we were happy to accommodate the variance on the design.
